Boston Restaurant Week
(This one's for you DAD)

Boston does this great thing every year called Restaurant Week. Basically, you pay a set amount and get to enjoy a 3 course meal at any of the participating restaurants, which are top class and include unique menu items. I was thrilled when I got the chance to join some friends and try out Rialto, an Italian restaurant in Harvard Square.

(Emily, Jen, Liz and Me)

For my first course, I ordered the zucchini risotto with mushrooms and parmesan. I had no idea what risotto was but was assured by Emily that I did not want to miss out on it's creamy goodness; and I have to tell you, it was divine! So divine in fact that I didn't stop eating to take a picture. So, If you ever get the chance to try risotto, please do! You wont regret it.

For my second course I ordered the grilled flank steak with panzanella and summer squash. Again, absolutely amazing! It was horrible but I actually ate every last bite, and was even tempted to lick the plate when I was finished.

(You can't see it very well but the presentation was beautiful!)

Emily got quite the surprise when her Trout came. She looked up at all of us and said, "Guys, it's staring at me!" We all died laughing.

For desert I ordered the Chocolate torta. It was super, super rich but oh so wonderful!

All in all, I had an amazing diner with the most amazing girls ever. With great conversation and great food at a great price, how could I not have a good time?

Summer Concert Series

Kristin and I have gone to three concerts in the past three weeks. We are calling it our summer concert series 2008! First up. . .

JOSHUA RADIN

If you haven't heard his music, I attached a video (not from our concert) for you to enjoy. You really should check him out. He's fantastic! Kristin and I got all dressed up for the night (see picture above). We set out for the show, realized we were starving, stopped for something to eat, ran to the show and then realized that he didn't go on until 10:45p.m. and that I didn't have my ID to get in. So, we headed back home to get it.

(I couldn't keep a straight face, Kristin kept making me laugh too hard!)

It was so hot and muggy and we were stuck on public transportation all night, so by the time we got home we took off our stylish outfits and makeup and Kristin pulled her cute hair back into a more comfortable do. These pictures are of us in our more comfortable looks laughing and having fun with the whole thing. It really was so funny. We got back to the show just in time to see Joshua walk on. It was GREAT and we were so close. We were also so grateful that we changed because the place didn't have the air conditioning on!

COLDPLAY

Next up, Coldplay! That morning I woke up with one of the worst migraines I have ever experienced. I was dieing but was determined not to miss the Coldplay concert that night. So, being completely drugged up and with a completely numb face I went out with Kristin and my two friends Emily and Claire to watch the show.

(Kristin and I before we left)

(This is video from the concert by someone who had a really good zoom on their camera)

While the opening act was on Kristin and I walked around and found these awesome Coldplay hats that we just couldn't live without. We both wear them all the time!

Celine Dion

Last but certainly not least, Celine Dion! She was so amazing live! Her voice is incredible and she sang every song we wanted her to sing and then some. They ended up filming our concert for a Dvd to be sold later which made the show that much more exciting.

Funniest moments of the night: Looking over to find Kristin crying during the first song and belting out every song she sang!

Martha's Vineyard

Last weekend I went out to Martha's Vineyard and had an absolute blast! I immediately felt like I was on vacation and didn't want to think about heading back to the craziness of the big city. We went to the beach, ate some sea food, did some shopping, happened upon a great gospel choir practicing, and saw some awesome light houses. It was one of the best, most relaxing days and for $15 bucks round trip, I can't wait to do it again.

(The Cliffs by the lighthouse)

Kick'n it at South Beach. It's the roughest beach on the Island, meaning there were actually big waves!

Cottage Park : Houses all decorated in crazy colors and decorations. They sit so close together and people actually live in them.

This one was my favorite, it was the least decorated of them all.

The general feel of the Island!

Grabbing some Mad Martha's Ice Cream to go and getting excited over the Snickers kind!

Flying Sky High

(disclaimer: You may see a lot of funny faces made in this post)

Do you ever wonder if you have some secret talent that you haven't discovered yet? Do you ever sit and think to yourself, after watching someone do something amazing, "I bet if I tried I could do that?" If you answered yes, you are not alone. Those are the exact thoughts that my roommate Juliet and I had last night as we sat down to watch the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance. We were particularly impressed by Joshua and how high he could jump and decided that we had better try it out. I mean really, how hard could jumping be?

With much confidence, I stood up to take my first jump. Juliet was a little worried and told me that I probably shouldn't try because I might hit the ceiling. (She was completely serious about that by the way) Suddenly, as my feet left the floor I realized all to quickly that Juliet and I had completely overestimated my abilities as a world class jumper. I geared up, swung my arms and . . . NOTHING! I hardly went anywhere! We died laughing, and could hardly pick ourselves up off the floor (I was THAT bad).

Next up, Juliet. She geared up, swung her arms and BAM!!! People, let me tell you . . . she may not have jumped as high as Joshua but she really did almost hit the ceiling! She was amazing and she was hardly trying! So, for at least one of us, a new talent was discovered.

(I'm flying, I'm flying!)

Juliet couldn't believe how terrible I was and decided she had better help me out. So, for the next half hour we had jumping lessons and I found myself getting better and better.

Juliet continued to amaze me with her spring like legs and she was so graceful when she came back down. You didn't even hear her feet hit the floor. When I jumped, I almost brought the whole house down. We were afraid our neighbors would come knocking because of how hard my feet smacked the floor.

(Um did a man sneak into our house without us knowing? I look like a freaking MAN!!!)
