A day in Newport

Once upon a time a boy and a girl drove away from the city to spend the day by the ocean.

They walked through some very rich peoples old homes,

saw some incredible trees just begging to be climbed,

played in the back yard,

And took the cliff walk along the ocean.

After a lovely day among the mansions, the boy and the girl headed home. Though they were sad to leave, their spirits were quickly lifted as they stumbled upon a small town Carnival.

They rode the rides, eavesdropped on the carnies silly conversations and even contemplated playing the games.

Thank you Newport for the lovely day!

Martha and Her Vineyard

This past weekend was a GREAT one! To celebrate SPRING and the beautiful weather 7 of my lovely friends and I took a mini vacation to Martha's Vineyard. We boarded the BIG BOAT at 10:00 AM Saturday morning . . .

and chatted it up the whole way there, even though over half of us were only running on 3 or 4 hours of sleep.

After arriving, we quickly began planning out our activities for the day.

We did a lot of shopping in Oaks Bluff, and even met an unexpected new friend.

We wandered on to the property of a hotel, which was closed for the season, to relax in their many rocking chairs.

We took silly pictures with old Book Store signs.

We contemplated jumping into the ocean for a little swim, but quickly changed our minds . . . it's not that warm yet!

And again, more silly pictures . . . Liz the Rock Star: "NO MORE PICTURES!"

We wrapped up day one with some good food and a lot of laughter.

Day two found us separated.

Casey, Liz and I found ourselves wandering around a few more shops (what can I say, I was brought up that way) and then it was off to the beach!

There were seashells covering the entire beach. We looked and looked and were amazed at all the different kinds of shells.

I felt like the true winner when I discovered this beauty! It made my whole day. How can you not look at that and SMILE?

After a little fun on the beach it was off to the arcade! I was thrilled to see the Great Zoltar who was waiting to deliver insight into my future, and Liz was excited by the toys that she missed out on growing up. I swear kids have it all these days!

After another lunch of ice cream, (I know, I know) . . .

. . . and a mad dash to get everyone's luggage from the bed and breakfast; we were beat and it was time to head home.

Thanks for the lovely time Martha, I will return again soon.

LAST WEEK

For the first time in a long time I haven't been my usual pull out the camera at every moment self. I've actually even left my camera at home . . . a lot. This is the reason my blog hasn't been updated in a while. I just couldn't bring myself to blog without the pictures. So, last week I made a conscious effort to pull the camera out and begin documenting again. Here's what happened . . .

The week started with a serious run . . . in the rain. I thought it would be fine, and it wasn't raining too hard when I started, but by the time I hit mile 2 the rain came pouring down. I was soaked through and it was dripping down my face at such a pace that I worried I might choke when I inhaled. It sounds bad . . . but I loved every minute of it!

Later that week, I had an enormous breakfast at Soundbites while catching up with my good friend and former roommate Juliet. We seriously ate everything placed on our table and probably could have eaten more. We had a great time and the food was delicious!

The week wrapped up nicely when I woke up to a fantastic Easter surprise! My sister Kristin came over before I woke up to hide a basket for me. She put the spool of ribbon around my door and strung it all around the house. (I have to admit, it made me a little home sick)

The basket was full of goodies and Easter surprises from Kristin and her family, my Mom and Dad and my Grandparents. Thanks everyone who contributed, It really made my day!
