A MOVIE some FOOD and a little RED

Last Saturday I went out and had a great time with a friend of mine. We started off by grabbing dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, where I discovered my new favorite menu item. Previously, I have thoroughly enjoyed the Navajo sandwich. However, this time as I looked over the menu I was determined to break the norm and try something new; Particularly the Santa Fe Salad. I normally am not one to order a salad at diner but I was so glad I did. The only problem was that I didn't order the dressing on the side and if you've seen how huge the portions are there, you know that I hardly dented this monstrous salad. So, the rest went to the trash instead of coming home to be enjoyed at my next meal. I'll know better next time.

After diner we did a little shopping and wondered into the Mac Makeup store. Normally I am a little scared of the Mac Makeup people because they dress and do their makeup like it's Halloween everyday. However, I was feeling particularly brave at that moment and decided to ask one of the workers if I could ever wear RED lipstick. (I have always thought that RED lipstick was for people with dark hair and dark features) After rushing me into the makeover chairs, that have always scared me half to death, and a quick application, they all had me convinced that RED was the way to go. I was completely surprised and decided to go for it. So, I am now the owner of a RED lipstick! My only question is . . . is RED lipstick only a night look, or can I wear it during the day to?

Next it was off to the theater for a little Mamma Mia! I really liked it. I mean, the play was 10 times better but the movie was entertaining. Meryl Streep took a little getting use to but she really didn't sound that bad. My only real complaint was the poor casting choice for Sam. I know that in the movie industry it is all about making money, but please . . . Pierce Brosnan? He can act okay but he cannot sing at all. The entire audience was laughing every time he opened his mouth! It was painful to watch.

Pierce Brosnan aside, it was entertaining, fun, and full of great music. I enjoyed it.

LAST TWO WEEKENDS IN REVIEW

Two weekends ago I got invited to go to Nantucket. It was such a beautiful day and the town was so cute. We met the funniest and most interesting people and had an all around great time.

There were gorgeous flowers all over the place. These were some of my favorite.

Our first goal when we got off the boat was to find some great Sea food. We asked a local, thinking he would just point us in the direction of a good place. We were shocked when he stopped everything, jumped up and started to literally show us to the place. We walked and walked and walked some more. Every time we would ask him how much further, he would tell us "20 more steps, trust me," and then he would go on telling us some crazy story. It made us all a little nervous when we kept getting further from all the other tourists and began heading into a residential area. This guy pulled through for us though when we finally ended up at a great little seafood market.

(Here we are following our crazy friend)

We couldn't help but grab a Nantucket Nectar while we were there. Pineapple Orange Guava is my favorite. If you haven't tried this kind, you are seriously missing out.

This is what we saw all day!

After wandering around a little, it was off to the lighthouse. The only problem was, we didn't have a car and the bus ran so infrequently that we wouldn't have near enough time once we got there. So, we found ourselves a good looking taxi driver named Ogie from Bulgaria to take us. He was so funny and had us all laughing the whole time. He would even stop the car, hold out his hand and make everyone else stop so that we could take pictures out the windows.

The Lighthouse

While at the lighthouse, I showed the girls how to take supermodel pictures. (You turn your face away and on the count of three you turn your head back and snap a picture) Alicia was a pro and came out with some of the best pictures ever!

We traveled back on the local bus where we met some more interesting folks. One guy told us about how he sold his 11,000 sq foot lot for 4 million dollars. It was insane.

Can you imagine how much this beautiful place would go for!

After a little more shopping and some delicious ice cream we jumped back on the boat and headed back to the cape. It was such a great day. We laughed the whole time and really had so much fun.

(Thanks Ellen and Misty for sharing your pictures)

Last weekend

Last weekend Kristin, Kenley, Cora and I went to the beach to go swimming, and to checkout the big sand sculpture competition. The water was so cold that day, but it didn't stop us from jumping in. Even Kristin, who has a fear of water, braved it and got in. I didn't end up taking any pictures of the water or the beach, but I did get some good shots of the sand sculptures, which were amazing! Take a look at some of my favorites.

Now, a little closer

"Oh, We're half way there . . . Whoa, Livin on a Prayer"

When I was little I remember thinking that my aunts Sheila and Amber were so cool.  I loved riding in the back of their car when they would blast the 80's music and loved having dance parties in my Grandparents front room to the sounds of bands like Roxette and Def Leppard.  They even had a poster above their bed, where we took our naps, of Def Leppard.  Needless to say, I grew up listening to 80's hair bands and have had a real love for them my whole life thanks to Sheila and Amber's influence.

That being said, Bon Jovi was always my favorite and last Wednesday I was able to mark something off of my list of things to do before I die . . . See BON JOVI live!!!

(It's My Life)

It was so much fun and the crowd was so great! Jon Bon Jovi was just as hot as he's ever been, which I probably shouldn't say considering he's old enough to be my dad.  But it's true and he had more energy than anyone in there.  I had a blast and would see them again in a heartbeat.  I danced, sang my heart out, waved my hands and even screamed a little when my favorite songs came on.  They sang more of their old songs than their new ones which made it so much more fun.  I was even tempted to go again the next night.  It was an awesome experience and something I will never forget.  I really hope that they continue touring so that I can go again someday.

(You Give Love a Bad Name)
This video shows the entire arena singing along. The person who filmed it had crappy seats behind the stage but was able to capture the audience and what the band sees really well.
